WASHING MACHINE FAQ's
1. Why the washing machine does not spin properly?
Ans: It can be caused by the followings:
Lid cover is not closed properly; drain hose outlet level is higher and uneven wash
load etc. When the laundry was unbalanced during spinning time, rinsing and automatic
correcting of unbalanced clothing will occur and spinning process will resume later.
2. Why are there black stains on cloths after washing?
Ans: May be your washing machine is
dirty due to the residual accumulated through times and need to be overhauled. The
possibility is that, a build up caused by interaction of fabric softener and detergent
which can flake off from washing machine tub and stains the clothes. Try to dilute
and dissolve the softener before .putting it into the machine to reduce such black
stains.
3. What is National Home Dry'Care system and advantages?
Ans: By National Home Dry Care system,
even clothing marked with the dry cleaning label can be washed in water if it is
the type that keeps its shape as long as it is not subjected to friction. However,
there are some clothes that change their shape just by being immersed in water,
and so cannot be washed in water. E.g. leather clothes, rayon clothes and clothes
with a lot of interfacing or padding.
4. What is National Home Dry'Care system and advantages? What is National Centrifugal
Washing system and advantages?
Ans: National Centrifugal Washing
system provides "No tangle and damage free laundry". No tangles make unloading easier
and damage free washing makes clothes longer lasting and prevent damaging.
5. Why does the pulsator of the washing machine rotated in one direction during
washing?
Ans: The PCB could be faulty. OR the
mechanism case is faulty.
6. Although the water can fill the tub of the washing machine, but the flow
will not stop, Why?
Ans: Likely problem could be due to
pressure/sensor switch faulty or the air hose is leaking. OR the PCB is faulty.
7. Water can fill the tub of the washing machine but it does not wash, Why?
Ans: Likely cause could be the malfunction
of the motor or PCB.
8. The power was turned on, but the water could not flow into the washing machine's
tub.
Ans: Please check if the water tap
was turned on. OR there is blockage on the inlet hose to the feed valve's filter.
Please clear the blockage. OR feed valve and/or PCB could be faulty.
9. Why is the motor noisy during the spin process of the washing machine?
Ans: The washing machine could have
stood on uneven flooring. You will need to adjust the adjustable leg/s of the washing
machine to stabilise it. OR the clothing is unevenly spread in the wash tub. You
will need to stop the operation and spread the clothing evenly.
10. Why is the clothing still wet after the spin process of the washing machine
was completed?
Ans: The outlet hose could have been
lifted higher than the washing machine's drain outlet, hence causing a restriction
for the water to flow out of the outlet hose.
11. My machine motor runs, but the drum does not turn.
Ans: This is usually the drive belt.
Most modern machines will detect this as a "motor speed" error, or "tacho error",
and may display an error code. Check in your user guide for this. The drive belt
is one of the easiest parts to replace. Just ensure that if you do have to loosen
the motor mounting bolts, you get the correct tension on the belt before tightening
them up. A good rule of thumb is 1 KG pressure should distort the belt by 10 to
15 MM, in the centre of its longest run. Adjustment is similar to a fan belt on
a car, via a slotted hole in one of the motor mounting points.
12. Can I prevent things getting stuck in the washing machines?
Ans: Check all pockets etc for small
items, especially screws and nails 5 pence pieces etc. Put sock and small items
in first, towards the back of the drum, or put them in a special string bag or pillow
case. Rinse off gritty mud. Do not overload
13. Why does the washing machine smell?
Ans: All washing machines start to
smell if they are left unused for a few days. The biological components of washing
powders and liquids probably playa part in the smell situation, but variation between
products should minimise the build up of any particular agent. An occasional hot
wash should also keep it down, and keeping the door open won't hurt. If the machine
waste is connected under the sink, dirty water can go back into the machine in certain
circumstances (back-syphonage), and that will cause exceptional smells.
14. Which form of detergent is good for WM, Powder, Liquid or Tablet?
Ans: Washing machines have a soap
and conditioner dispenser so you can put the powder in easily. When liquid came
along it was hard to tell people that you can just put the powder or liquid straight
in the tub. The answer was to tell them to put it in a little plastic ball. Whatever
the soap format, the machine mixes the soap and water together and the clothes get
washed. If any soap format was better in all considerations we would all know about
it by now, so relax and don't worry about it. Use what you like or what is cheapest
and works for you. The only thing to watch out for if you are using powder is to
make sure your water inlet pressure is sufficient to flush the powder out of the
soap dispenser and dissolve it. If you let lumps of damp undissolved powder enter
into the machine there is a chance that they could cause a blockage.
15. I have a machine on a laminate floor, how do I protect it
Ans: If you have a LAMINATE FLOOR
in your utility room or kitchen area, where your dryer or washing machine are located,
it is a good idea to protect your floor from any dampness or slight water leakage.
The ideal simple and cheap way of doing this, is to purchase APPLIANCE TRAYS that
are specifically designed to do this.
16. My machine leaks around the door.
Ans: This is usually the door seal.
Most machines incorporate a one-piece combined door seal and outer drum seal (often
just called a DOOR GASKET). Some older AEG machines just had a large thick seal
held between the 2 halves of the door. The combined seals can be tricky to replace.
Some have a springy ring that has to go over the part of the seal that goes over
the outer drum lip, some have a spring metal ring on the outside of the front part
ensure good grip on to the front panel. For those you will need PDL (Patience, Dexterity,
and Luck)! In some cases, the door seals are put in on the front panel first in
the factory, then the drum assembly is put in, and the seal pushed over the outer
drum. This means that for some models, a lot of stripping down will have to be done,
just to replace the drum to door seal!
17. My machine leaks a bit when filling or spinning
Ans: This is usually the flexible
hose that goes between the dispenser unit, and the top right side of the outer drum.
This hose probably gets the most physical movement and distortion during spinning,
and therefore is usually the one that develops a small split first. These can usually
be replaced by removing the dispenser unit, and the large clips that secure the
pipe to the unit, and to the outer drum. If you have to remove any of the small
rubber pipes from the top of the dispenser unit, tag each one and make a diagram
so you know which one goes back where.
18. My machine leaks as soon as it fills with water
Ans: This is either the large pipe
that connects from the BOTTOM of the outer drum, to the suds pump inlet, or the
pump body itself, or the seal inside the pum•p. This may be tricky to work out where
the leak is coming from, but just use a good torch, with the back removed, and watch
it through a short cycle. If it is a plastic pump, they usually have small star-screws
holding the 2 parts of the pump body together. Try tightening these, if they are
loose. If the machine is over 8 years old and has had a lot of use, it will most
likely be the pump seal.
19. My machine is noisy on spin
Ans: This can be a symptom of drum
bearing wear. A quick check for wear is to see if the inner drum moves up and down
relative to the fixed outer drum. It should only move a minute amount. If it moves
more than a millimeter or two, it is probably worn bearings. You can obtain bearing
kits for most makes. If it is making unusual noises while washing too, check there
is not a bra wire or similar object trapped half way into one of the drum holes.
A high pitched whine is sometimes caused by the motor bearings (but most rush/commutator
motors whine a bit anyway on higher speeds, it is normal). Oil sparingly so as not
to contaminate the carbon brushes.
20. My machine motor runs, but the drum does not turn.
Ans: This is usually the drive belt.
Most modern machines will detect this as a "motor speed" error, or "tacho error",
and may display an error code. Check in your user guide for this. The drive belt
